Downtown Signage and Wayfinding Project

The Downtown Business District is looking to implement a downtown signage and wayfinding project this Spring. They had a signage study that proposed a signage theme for downtown done in the summer of 2009. Their board has approve $20,000 to carry out the entire project.

They are seeking your review for the proposed project.

  1. The font is fine, if a bit too common, but the blue color is really dull. Take note from New Haven's downtown wayfinding signage, which is a lot more colorful and festive.

Also the arrow is too faint and small. It needs to be much bolder.

The 'Middletown' sign on top with the silhouette that is undefined makes me a bit anxious, since i could see it being unprofessional looking.

Really, for 20k, this was the best they could accomplish? Middletown should've pushed for more options. What about gateways to downtown? And landmark notations....lots of missing items here.
