Dear Board members,
I received two separate request concerning signage at the Old Mill Plaza on Washington Street.
Adli Signage- The applicant has considered the use of external illumination for their main logo sign to go over the front entrance. They believe that since they are below the square footage allotment and the box like sign is in fact their logo they want the board to view it as similar to a Channel letter sign that happens to be square. The goal for preferring stencil cut signs or channel letters is to eliminate the illumination of elements that are not important. I believe that it is a reasonable request.
CVS Signage- CVS would like a reader board on the freestanding sign. They feel they need to compete with Walgreens. I indicated that they are maxed out on signage and they can not incorporate a reader board. They want to reduce the building signage to allow the possibility of a reader board on a newly designed freestanding sign. I find the request odd, since they just installed the signs. If the board wants to completely redesign the freestanding signs with specific recommendations I would certainly pass them on as recommendations for a successfully application.
